Is Your Lawn Mower Control Compartment Prone to Water Ingress? The Housing Seal Test May Be the Cause
1. Testing Requirements
The test object in this case is a large lawn mower housing. Its waterproofing requirements do not call for every section to be tested. The inspection focuses on the compartment in the center of the housing where the electronic components are installed.

Once assembled, this compartment must provide reliable waterproofing and sealing. Improper assembly, a missing sealing ring, or uneven sealant application can create a leak path that allows moisture or contaminants to enter, causing circuit board corrosion, component short circuits, or abnormal equipment operation.

2. Test Solution Design
Based on the structural characteristics of the lawn mower housing and the customer's daily production requirements, WAFU Brothers designed a solution featuring two test stations and a dual-channel direct pressure air leak tester.
Because the housing is large and must be easy to remove after loading, open sections were designed on both sides of the lower fixture. These openings leave enough room for the operator's hands, making the housing easier to load and unload while preventing it from fitting too tightly against the fixture. Positioning blocks follow the outline of the housing to ensure consistent placement and prevent loading misalignment from affecting the test results.
A dedicated sealing structure is provided for the central electronic component compartment so that the test pressure can be applied steadily to the target cavity.

3. Testing Process
Load the product → Start the equipment → Clamp and seal the fixture → Fill → Stabilize → Test for leakage → Automatic evaluation → Exhaust and reset → Unload the product
If the test data falls within the specified acceptance range, the instrument displays a pass result. If the measured leakage exceeds the allowable limit, the product is classified as defective. The operator can then retest the product and inspect assembly steps such as sealant application around the compartment.
4. Results
By combining a dual-station fixture with a dual-channel air leak tester, the manufacturer can inspect two lawn mower housings at the same time, improving production efficiency while maintaining stable test performance.
Because the test area contains electronic components, immersion testing is not suitable. A dedicated lawn mower housing air leak tester helps the customer identify sealing problems promptly without exposing the product to water.
